Father and Leader…
…NOT a politician.
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in my campaign! Let me tell you a little about myself:
I was born and raised in Southern California and have lived in Palos Verdes for 8 years. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, I have led organizations of several hundred people and managed multi-million dollar programs. In the last few years, I’ve volunteered as a parent assistant at my daughter’s pre-school and as an engineering expert at local PVPUSD science fairs. I’ve attended several school board meetings as a concerned parent and community member, and I’m active with my local synagogue. Like most parents of young children can relate, my “free” time mostly consists of shuttling my daughter to her various extracurricular activities. All this is to say:
I am NOT a politician
My wife and I moved to Palos Verdes specifically for the high quality schools, and for the first several years we lived here I was blissfully ignorant about the issues facing our district. In 2022, with my daughter’s entrance into public school on the horizon, I became keenly aware of the challenges public schools faced in our country: both nationally and in California, and even here in PV. I decided I could not watch this unfold from the sidelines, so I ran for school board. I had zero experience running for office but jumped in anyway and quickly climbed a steep learning curve—I only missed earning a seat on the board by less than half-a-percent of the vote.
Why I am running for office
In the two years since that election, I’ve stayed plugged in to the district’s operations. Many of the same issues that we faced then are still present today, as well as some new ones that have emerged. Watching the current board try to tackle these challenges has been frustrating. Many of the board members pledged transparency during their campaign, but there are still many aspects that have been hidden from public view. There continue to be several apparent board member conflicts of interest and questionable associations. Even though the school board is meant to be a nonpartisan entity, there are several members who are deeply entrenched in local and state politics.
This needs to stop.
I am running because I believe that my combination of leadership experience and no-nonsense, fast-action mentality is what our district needs to regain trust from the community and return to being an effective government entity.
I’d love to hear from you
